Mo Abudu is the Founder and CEO of EbonyLife Group, which includes EbonyLife Media, EbonyLife Creative Academy, and EbonyLife Place. She began her career in HR in the UK and later led HR at ExxonMobil Nigeria before founding Vic Lawrence & Associates. She co-developed Nigeria’s first purpose-built Protea Hotel, then transitioned into media with Moments with Mo, Africa’s first pan-African talk show. She launched EbonyLife TV in 2013 and EbonyLife Films in 2014, producing hits and collaborating with global studios such as Netflix, Sony, and BBC. EbonyLife was the first African company to sign a multi-title deal with Netflix.
Mo is currently raising a $50M Afro Film Fund and is in the process of setting up EbonyLife ON Plus, a streaming platform that offers more than streaming, with content designed to entertain, empower, and inspire. A Harvard Executive Fellow, she produced Dust to Dreams with Idris Elba, and was named UK Creatives Champion in 2024. She serves on the International Emmys and Oscars boards, and is listed on TIME100 and Forbes' 100 Most Powerful Women.
She has recently acquired a property in London to establish EbonyLife Place London, a cultural hub celebrating African creativity, featuring the UK’s first cinema dedicated to African films, alongside spaces for art, live music, and theatre.
