Bloomberg Connects Program
Today’s cultural institutions must thrive in real and virtual space. That’s why Bloomberg Philanthropies works with cultural organizations to improve the role that technology plays in enhancing the visitor experience both on and offsite. Through Bloomberg Connects, Bloomberg Philanthropies has committed more than $100 million to support technological development at 15 cultural institutions around the world:
Academy Museum of Motion Pictures
The American Museum of Natural History
Art Institute of Chicago
The Brooklyn Museum
The Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum
The Jewish Museum
Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts
The Metropolitan Museum of Art
The Metropolitan Opera
The Museum of Modern Art
The New York Botanical Garden
San Francisco Museum of Modern Art
Serpentine Galleries
The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum
Tate Modern, London
Support for technological development includes new features like interactive touch screens, immersive installations, apps, and mobile websites. At the same time, these efforts to modernize and innovate also advance the missions of cultural institutions by promoting collaboration among senior leadership and the curatorial, education, development, marketing, and operations departments.
