Treasure Wells, a first-year student at Tulane University, never imagined she’d end up at one of the top schools in the United States: “I am the first generation in my family to attend college. I’m one of ten kids. I’m very close to my parents, but they didn’t really know how to guide me. And my school had one counselor, so I couldn’t really get one-on-one attention there.”

Across the country, too many students miss out on college opportunities they deserve because they don’t get information and advising they need. But early in her senior year of high school, Treasure got a call from the CollegePoint program. “CollegePoint gave me a mentor, someone I could relate to,” she said. “I could call her with any dumb questions. I didn’t even know what the Common App was. We talked about ‘reach’ schools like Tulane. She helped me with the financial aid application.”

And now? “I love Tulane – it’s a great opportunity for me. Honestly, I couldn’t even imagine my college decision process without CollegePoint.”

That support helped launch Treasure to campus in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she’s embracing the opportunity to pursue her passions. “I came in as pre-med,” she said. “I’m doing some soul searching. Now I’m thinking about public health.”

I love Tulane – it’s a great opportunity for me. Honestly, I couldn’t even imagine my college decision process without CollegePoint.
